Can you Wash Leather?
Well, yes, you can wash leather but be careful as if you use soap and water you can damage or dry out the leather. I would seriously advise washing leather clothng in the washing machine. Washing leather shoes can be done occasionally in the machine but if you chance it make sure you use cold water. Because of the many differences in qualities of leather and bonding materials being used I tend to refrain from this way of washing leather shoes - even running shoes. Besides it is too noisy.
If you have to try and wash a leather jacket with soap and water be willing to have it go wrong. Use a mild soap and water to spot clean only. There are a lot of leather cleaners out there and we obviously think URAD is the best so if you value that jacket, those shoes or that sofa, then use something else than soap and water.
Once you have washed the leather this way, allow the leather to dry slowly - don't use heat as this will often make the leather shrink.
URAD gives you a one step procedure that cleans, conditions(moisturizes) and protects.
There are many other products that are two parts or you can get one that cleans and one that conditions. They are made for cleaning leather. Conditioners that allow the leather to breath after applied are best as opposed to products with silicon which seal the leather.
With shoes and boots get something (like URAD) that doesn't have a waxy finish. With URAD the immediate finish gives a polished look so there is no buffing involved.
