How to Remove Glue from Leather
There are many different types of glue and here are a few methods for removing them:
Remove adhesive tape stains from leather:
1. Gently scrape off any excess.
2. Dip a cloth or sponge into the suds of a mild soap and gently scrub until the remaining glue is removed.
(For suede, use an artgum eraser or if that doesn't work use a very fine emery board - gently now!)
3. Dry with a clean cloth.
4. Treat the leather with Urad to condition and protect the leather. (For the suede use Tenderly)
Remove Super Glue from Leather:
About the only thing that will remove super glue is acetone. If you are going to use this on leather note that it will minimumly discolor the leather. Use a q-tip and find a spot somewhere that is out of the way that you can 'test' it on. Acetone will disolve the super glue and it won't melt the leather or anything but will certainly discolor it. You can get some of the moisture and conditioning back into the leathe with URAD but it may not end up being the same exact color.
Some other glues that are not as toxic can be removed by freezing them. If it is on a small item put it in the freezer for a while and once frozen it should be much easier to remove. A larger item can be addressed with a sandwhich bag full of ice cubes. Again, condition the leather afterwards with the URAD. This also works very well for gum.
