How to Clean Ink From Leather

How to clean ink from leather with URAD and Tenderly:

URAD and Tenderly can be used to remove ink from leather. Put a small amount on the sponge supplied and work into the leather gently. As the ink comes out into the sponge, use cleaner sections or a fresh sponge. Using URAD can take several applications - let the leather dry between applications.

Removing ballpoint pen ink from leather with alcohol:

Isopropyl alcohol. This is the one of the best things to use to remove ink from a couch or leather jacket or coat. The sooner you get to it the better. If an ink stain has been in the leather for while it may take several applications. The longer that the stain is left the deeper it will go into the leather as leather is very porous.

Use a cotton swab or cotton cloth dampened with alcohol. Use white cloth as a colored cloth can transfer color to the leather with the alcohol. Dab the cloth or swab on the ink stain working toward the middle so you do not spread the ink. As the stain comes out of the leather into the swab or cloth move to a cleaner piece of cloth to prevent you pushing the ink back into the leather. Do this all gently and you should be able to remove the ink without also removing any of the leather stain.

Allow the leather to dry. Once it has dried then treat it with URAD leather conditioner.

Apply the same process for a felt tip marker but with a permanent marker - well, it is permanent. The best thing here is to go to a professional to get the leather dyed to the same color or close.

Hair spray has been used successfully because of the alcohol content but is not a sure thing as some of the other chemicals in it can stain the leather. Dry abrasive erasers or emery board may work for suede but will destroy the surface of leather.

Caution:
Whether you are using URAD to get ink off leather purses, sofas or jackets or alcohol, ALWAYS test first. Test on an area that is not as visible - back of a couch or inside leather of a coat or jacket. Not all leathers are the same and the quality of dyes are always different. Test first!!

Ink Stains Removal from Suede:
Suede can stain and discolor mush more easily than leather. So, again test and be willing for the leather to be discolored or this to not work. Use Tenderly to apply to the ink stains in your suede. Not URAD. Gently work it in to the suede and pull the ink out. Once you have gotten as much ink as you can out of the suede and if there is still some left then use a bit of emery board or abrasive eraser. This will take the surface of the suede off and if the ink stain is not too deep, then that should finish the job. You can put some Tenderly on afterwards to recondition.
